Agility of Roaming Profiles with Depth of Differencing Disks

Ceedo’s Desktop Layering solution generates differencing disk-like entities, but instead of parsing information at block-level, which is suitable for any change in the disk chain, the information is stored at symmetric file and hive levels, thus retaining complete modularity with respect to the underlying OS, similar to the modularity gained by Roaming Profiles. This means that you can:

  • Update your underlying OS once to propagate to the entire VDI array
  • Maintain a single image for the entire organization and eliminate image sprawl
  • Flavor desktops at runtime for each department and user type

Ceedo’s Desktop Layering solution ensures IT retains the ability to update and maintain as small a number as possible of golden images (down to a single one!), while allowing independent flavoring of users’ sessions with application layers, application hiding layers, and user-specific layers.

Flavoring Desktops at Logon – simulating boot

In order to support random/floating pools of stateless desktops and shared PCs, Ceedo’s Desktop Layering solution performs a boot-like operation at logon, emulating the natural sequence of services start-points, even if they include drivers and services which are meant to start during early boot stages.

Organic Kernel-Mode Virtualization

In order to ensure maximum application compatibility and differencing disk-like capabilities, Ceedo captures all the dispatched File System and Registry transactions in real time, and organically causes the system to manipulate the requests on-the-fly.

Masking (hiding) Applications

In order to ensure maximum application compatibility and differencing disk-like capabilities, CeedoDesktop captures all the dispatched File System and Registry transactions in real time. Using a patent-pending descriptor-attaching system, Ceedo automatically “colors” each request made to the Kernel, and causes the system to manipulate the requests on-the-fly, without needing a tediously configured thumb-rule engine to decide which components should be redirected to which destinations.
